Fitspiration, "What I Eat In a Day", and other shit fuelling our insecurities: pop culture & eating disorders.
Description
Fueling our bodies starts off as instinctual when we’re born. Then, somewhere along the way, it gets complicated, layered, and tricky. It becomes about way more than the food in front of us. According to a U.S. study, 60% of girls, of average weight, between the ages of 12 and 18 years old are actively trying to shed body fat.
In this week’s episode, I sit down with registered dietician and psychotherapy student, Joelle, to define eating disorders vs. disordered eating. We talk about identifying unhealthy behaviors within ourselves and others. We talk about how pop culture & social media skew our perceptions of ourselves, others and what’s truly important when it comes to optimal health.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this powerful and insightful episode.
